Keep up to date with what’s happening at the Garrack

The Garrack is situated high above St Ives in well-tended private gardens, within easy reach of the town and its beaches, but above the hustle and bustle. The Hotel itself is friendly, elegant and cosy, with log fires in the two lounges when the weather requires, as well as far-reaching sea views. Situated in an elevated position above the town, you can see St Ives Bay or the Atlantic Ocean from almost every window. The Hotel holds three AA stars.

Lunchtime Dining at the Garrack
The Restaurant is a place where guests and local people alike can experience high quality, locally-produced food, cooked and presented with care and style, as you would expect from a restaurant holding an AA Rosette. With a dog-friendly bar area, featuring collections of both whisky and gin, and two lounges, this is a place to relax and unwind in comfort.

The Hotel features a newly-refurbished, heated indoor pool, with sauna, lounge and adjacent café-bar area, which are also open to non-residents.

As you would expect in St Ives, there is a plentiful and varied artwork on the walls, both in the public areas and the rooms. All created by local artists, the pieces are for sale, so guests are able to take home a memento of their stay. There is also a display of handmade items of jewellery created by local artisans, available to purchase...
Built in 1923, the house which forms the main part of the Hotel is built of Cornish granite, clad in greenery for much of the year. Several bedrooms are in this part of the house, and they are decorated in keeping with the architecture, retaining a cosy feel, some featuring four-poster beds. The Restaurant, bar area and two lounges are also part of the old building.

More recent extensions include a corridor of guest rooms on a lower level, with a more modern feel, and large picture windows overlooking the grounds and sea.

The Pool complex is also a more modern addition, and the grounds also house a small cottage which is currently two guest rooms, with a shared entrance lobby.

In July 2014 the Hotel was bought by local businessman Andrew Baragwanath, whose family owns the adjacent Ayr Holiday Park.

Plans for developing the Garrack centre on bringing it up to the high standards expected by today’s guests, with simple styling and excellent facilities. All the rooms are part of a rolling programme of updates, including new furniture and decor.

The Restaurant currently seats up to 40 diners, with a further 10 in the bar area, and room for more at the pool bar. Plans are in hand to expand and create a bar area / function room and add a decked area with awnings to the side of the pool building, to create a space for al fresco dining all year round.

It is hoped to get a license to hold weddings on the premises in the future. At the current time, intimate wedding receptions can be hosted – please contact reception to discuss your requirements.
